Sounds Of The Gyil

Gina Ferrera

The first thing you'll notice, upon first meeting Gina Ferrera, is her infectious enthusiasm and exuberance.  It permeates every aspect of her dialogue, mannerisms and view of the world.   Gina's passion for music began at the age of ten, while drumming and creating beats with her dad.  After years of studying drums and various percussion instruments, she was first introduced to the gyil (West African marimba/xylophone) by Valerie Naranjo.   Who introduced the gyil to women musicians/percussionist for Broadway's "The Lion King".  Gina is a performer and educator, and has established "Gina's Gyil" to conduct workshops & classes at various venues, schools & civic centers. Gina and her group "The Bleaded Beat" can be heard playing all over the country and Tri-State areas.

TEAu

Independent Artist Destined for Stardom with the Release of Debut Album Dust Of A Rose
Jersey presents its next best selling artist with her recently released debut album, Dust Of A Rose. TEAu L Johnson, pronounced toe, leaps into the R n B arena with blazing lyrics that captivate and mesmerize her adoring fans. The sultry smooth voice of this newly popular artist oozes with emotion and rhythmic melodies. By meshing together her influences, TEAu has formed a style that is unique and personal.
Ascending from humble beginnings of double dutch, Ma's vinyl records and catholic school skirts, TEAu grew to embrace the childhood that would set precedence in her life.  Long weekends at Grandma's house turned into great weeks of continued support and encouragement, and singing in a mirror with a pretend mic became a favorite past time.  This motivation help to nurture her impressive songwriting skills.  As a self taught musician and artist, TEAu's heart-felt lyrics, smooth vocals and emotional range have enabled her to work with some of the industries top players such as Grammy Award Winner Kenny Johnston from Perfect Pair Studios. TEAu has also shared the stage with artist like Rah Digga, Queen Latifah and Lance Webb formerly with Pieces of a Dream.
Dust Of A Rose is lyrically unlocked, and musically TEAu pushes herself in directions only you could embrace. From edgy hip hop flavor to smoothed out soul; the banging beats and her sexy ‘n grown vocals adds a fresh element that's timeless.

Dust Of A Rose is sure to catapult TEAu into stardom with several strong hits to come. The release features originals like Next Stop, You Got Me, Something 'Bout and a live version of Sweet Thing.  Audiences from LA to the UK, from NY to DC, and from Jersey to Beiijing give nothing but rave reviews about this album.  Essence Magazine contributing writer Michel Marriot, applaud TEAu's ability to demonstrate a variety of styles by switching up on the sound of her songs.

Phenomenal success can be attributed to TEAu's determination, persistence and pure raw talent.
